Third generation (2014-2019) used Chevy Silverado 1500 are a great buy with their introduction of hydroformed high-strength steel frame.  Further improvements were made in 2015 where the 6.2L Ecotec3 engine was paired with the new 8-speed 8L90 transmission system. Gear shifting speed and fuel economy were enhanced with the combined technology.

Specific Replacements to Look For

Be aware that there were a couple of issues associated with the Silverado 1500 series of used Chevy trucks. First are common air conditioning system problems which were commonly solved through a compressor replacement. Second concern is with the new 2015’s transmission system which widely experienced screeching noises and total failure which would call for a whole new transmission system to be replaced.

With those parts replaced, the Silverado 1500 will continue to run for a long time and return value for money spent years after years which made them the more sought after used Chevy trucks.
